Lipitor Dosage
The dose of generic Lipitor varies in dependence on various factors, including:
- Age
- Medical condition for which a patient is being treated
- Other medical conditions a patient may have
- Other medications a patient may be currently taking
It is forbidden to change the prescribed Lipitor dosage unless a health care provider considers it necessary. The dose should be established only by a physician and in dependence on all the aspects indicated above.
As a matter of fact, the recommended starting Lipitor dosage for most people with high cholesterol is 10 or 20 mg once per day. Some people may be prescribed 40 mg if they require a large drop in their cholesterol numbers. After several weeks of treatment a patient is usually directed to check the cholesterol levels once again. After that a health care provider can either increase or decrease Lipitor dosage.
